Eerie Elegance: Glass Candle Votives

Creating Halloween-themed glass candle votives from Dollar Tree finds can be a fun and budget-friendly craft project. Here's a step-by-step guide to make spooky votives:

Materials you will need:

  1. Glass candle holders or small glass jars from Dollar Tree

  2. Flat black spray paint

  3. Battery-operated tea lights or votive candles

  4. Gorilla or hot glue gun

Instructions:

  1. Clean the glass: Before starting the craft, make sure the glass candle holders or jars are clean and free from any dust or residue. Wash them with soap and water if necessary and let them dry completely.

  2. Shake the spray paint can: Follow the manufacturer's instructions and shake the spray paint can thoroughly to ensure proper mixing.

  3. Apply the spray paint: Hold the spray paint can about 6-8 inches away from the glass surface and apply a light, even coat of paint. Use smooth, sweeping motions to cover the entire candle holder. Be patient and avoid applying too much paint at once to prevent drips or uneven coverage. It's better to apply several thin coats rather than one thick coat.

  4. Drying time between coats: Allow each coat to dry according to the instructions on the spray paint can. This usually takes about 5-10 minutes, but it can vary depending on the paint.

  5. Add additional coats (if needed): If the color is not as vibrant as you want, apply another coat of spray paint, allowing it to dry between each layer. Remember to keep the coats thin and even.

  6. Attach your votives: Use a small amount of Gorilla glue or a hot glue gun to attach your smaller votive a top your candle stick votive. Let dry as directed.

  7. Insert the candles: Once your votives are decorated and the adhesive is set, place battery-operated tea lights or votive candles inside the glass holders. Battery-operated candles are safer than real flames, especially if you'll be displaying the votives near flammable decorations.

  8. Display your Halloween votives: Now that your Halloween glass candle votives are ready, you can display them as part of your spooky decor. They can be great additions to your Halloween party, table centerpiece, or even to line a pathway for trick-or-treaters.

With a bit of creativity and some Dollar Tree finds, you can easily make Halloween-themed glass candle votives to set the mood for the spooky season! I will be using mine on my daughters Halloween-themed Bridal Shower this October. Should be a witchy vibe!
